about

Tlӧn, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is a mid-twentieth century short story by the Argentinian author, Jorge Louis Borges. It focuses on a make-believe realm that expands as it is discovered. In this story, based on what he saw around him, he was predicting a future where reality is completely subjective and devoid of discernable facts. The lyrics in this song look at a current reality where through technology we are able to create and construct a world tailored to our beliefs. Is the world round? As we become more tribal through technology every person is capable of creating an ever-expanding reality based on their own solipsistic prerogative.

lyrics

Obscene calculations
Bleed off of your page
Drowning in ink

Here he comes
The Guetenberg Man
Solipsistic and sure
Everything beautiful meets a violent end

I don’t know who you are
But I’ve come here to say
That we are enemies

Just give in to a state of liberosis
Monachopsis is coming for all of us
This language and its subtext, isn’t so subtle when…
